TCM master Xuan Guowei's experience in the treatment of keloid-associated pruritus and pain based on the theory of blood stasis and damp-heat

Abstract
Grounded in the"equilibrium philosophy"cultivated through decades of clinical practice,Xuan Guowei identifies the intermingling of blood stasis and damp-heat as the core pathogenesis of keloid.His treatment strategy adheres to the principle of"eliminating pathogens without impairing healthy qi while integrating purgation and tonifying methods",employing the therapeutic methods of"breaking blood stasis and resolving blood stasis,clearing heat and promoting diuresis".He develops a foundation formula for the internal treatment of keloid,primarily comprising sanqi,centella,danshen root,sarcandra,and liquorice root,which emphasizes formulating a prescription based on syndrome differentiation,symptom-targeted medication,and precisely dosing.His external therapies include fire needling to warm yang and unblock collaterals,topical washing of lesion sites with medicinal residues.This integrated approach forms a characteristic treatment system that combines acupuncture and herbal therapies,internal and external treatment,and local and global synergy,substantially alleviating refractory pruritus and pain in patients with keloid.关键词
