Application of a collaborative care model based on the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery concept in elderly patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of integrating Enhanced Recovery After Surgery(ERAS)principles into a collaborative care model in accelerating postoperative recovery for elderly patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy(RARP).Methods:200 elderly patients who underwent RARP at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from February 2022 to February 2023 were randomly divided into the control group(n=100,receiving conventional perioperative care)and the observation group(n=100,receiving ERAS-based collaborative care).Results:Compared to the control group,the observation group had significantly earlier time to first flatus,urinary continence recovery,first ambulation,and shorter length of hospitalization(P<0.05).Time to oral intake was later in the observation group than the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).After intervention,the observation group showed significantly higher scores in self-care capacity and all dimensions of quality of life than the control group(P<0.05).Both the incidence and total number of postoperative complications were significantly lower in the intervention group than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The ERAS-based collaborative care model can significantly enhance recovery outcomes,self-care capacity,and quality of life while reducing complications in elderly RARP patients,which is worthy of wider clinical application.关键词
