A simulation method for urban post-earthquake fire based on building collapse shapes

Abstract
Post-earthquake fires are common and serious destructive disasters.Building collapses following earthquakes expand surface areas,increasing the risk of fire spread.To account for the impact of building collapse on fire spread,this study proposed a simulation method for urban post-earthquake fire considering building collapse shapes.A nonlinear multiple degree-of-freedom model was used for seismic damage analysis,and building collapse shape were simulated using a discrete method.An OpenCV-based method for extracting collapsed building debris contours was proposed,which were used to update the geometric information of the buildings by transforming the contour coordinates,and integrated the updated information into the post-earthquake fire spread model to complete the simulation.Finally,a comparative validation study was conducted using a campus building cluster as the research subject.The results indicate that this method accurately incorporates the geometric changes of collapsed buildings into the post-earthquake fires spread model,significantly improving the accuracy of fire spread prediction.In the case study,the number of ignited buildings increased from four to nine,with the affected area expanding by 125%and the burned area increasing by 96.34%.This method enhances the predictive accuracy of post-earthquake fire behaviour and provides a scientific basis for urban disaster prevention and fire control strategies.关键词
