Experimental study on ethanol electrostatic spray mode and Taylor cone-jet characteristics

Abstract
An electrostatic spray experiment system was designed and built.The high-speed camera system,high voltage power supply system,and current measurement system were used to carry out experimental research on ethanol electrostatic spray.Spray modes of ethanol electrostatic spray were identified under different flow rates and voltages,and the Taylor cone angle varyings with the voltage and flow rate in the stable cone-jet mode was studied.After eliminating the influence of gas discharge on current measurement in the high voltage field,the current in the steady cone jet mode was accurately measured,and the current-flow rate and charge-mass ratio-flow rate scaling law relations were determined.The experimental results show that,with the increase of the electric field strength,the spray model of the ethanol electrostatic spray experienced successively the dripping mode,spindle mode,pulsating jet mode,cone jet mode/whipping mode,and multijet mode,among which the cone jet mode appeared only when the flow rate was low.The Taylor cone angle of the steady cone jet increases linearly with the voltage and decreases with the flow rate.The current-flow rate and charge-mass ratio-flow rate meet the scaling law of I/I0=k(Q/Q0)-1/2 and q/m=KQ-1/2,respecctively.关键词
