Abstract

In order to solve the problem of sea island cotton mechanized harvesting in Xinjiang,a pneumatic picking method for sea island cotton was proposed,and an air suction cotton picking device was designed.Based on the numeri-cal analysis of raw cotton suspension velocity and pneumatic conveying theory,a mathematical model of cotton picking chamber was established;Fluent software was used to simulate and analyze the flow field of the cotton picking chamber structures under different parameters,and the velocity and pressure distribution in the cotton picking chamber under dif-ferent parameters were compared and analyzed;The coupling method of computational fluid dynamics and discrete ele-ment method was used to simulate and analyze the cotton conveying process of the cotton picking chamber structure under different parameters.The results showed that the cotton picking chamber consisted of 5 compartments,with a cotton pas-sage height of 1.0 m at both ends,the speed of air current of the cotton suction port should not be less than 50 m/s,the average speed in the cotton picking chamber was higher than the pneumatic conveying speed of raw cotton of 12 m/s.As the height of the cotton plant channels at both ends of the cotton picking chamber increased,the average pressure in the cotton picking chamber decreased accordingly,the time required for the raw cotton to be completely sucked out of the picking chamber increased,and the maximum flow speed of the raw cotton decreased.The research results provided ref-erence data for the development of pneumatic cotton picking and conveying equipment for sea island cotton.
