Abstract

Wearable devices have become key data collection tools in the field of livestock and poultry health monitoring.Traditional animal health monitoring based on manual inspection are inefficient,costly,and subject to subjective judgment,making it insufficient for the needs of modern animal husbandry.The demand for wearable devices in livestock health monitoring is increasing.This paper systematically analyzed the working principles,functions,and current application status of wearable devices,covering sensor types,as well as data processing and analysis algorithms.Literature analysis indicated that research on wearable devices in livestock monitoring mainly focused on sensing technology and intelligent algorithms.With the advancement of inertial measurement and artificial intelligence,wearable devices with high-frequency sampling and fine-grained behavior analysis have been drawing more and more attention from scholars.Current challenges include issues such as data synchronization,high power consumption,unstable data transmission,impact of invasive sensors on animal welfare,and high application costs.Additionally,existing intelligent algorithms were found to be relatively single-function,lacking comprehensive analysis and real-time alerting capabilities.To promote the development of wearable devices in livestock health monitoring,it was recommended to develop edge computing devices integrating real-time monitoring and automatic alert functions,optimize algorithm models to reduce complexity,and extend device working hours to improve the accuracy and efficiency of animal health monitoring and early warning.Exploring new low-power sensor technologies and energy harvesting methods could enhance the battery life of wearable devices.
