Studies on Embryonic Development and Dynamic Observation of the Processes of Digestive Epithelial Cells Phagocytosing Phloroplasts of Placida dendritica

Abstract
Placida dendritica is a mollusk species belonging to the family Stiligeridae in the order Sacoglossa.It is capable of utilizing its ability to suck and retain algal chloroplasts within its own cells.However,the embryonic development process of P.dendritica and the cellular processes involved in retaining algal chloroplasts remain poorly understood.To address this issue,this study aims to document and provide a comprehensive description of the wild P.dendritica collected in Qingdao.Furthermore,it investigates the embryonic characteristics and growth patterns of these specimens during indoor incubation.The research findings indicate that,under a temperature range of 18~20℃,P.dendritica embryos develop within the egg capsule.The fertilized eggs go through cleavage,blastula,gastrula,trochophore,veliger,to hatching,with a total duration of approximately 96 hours.Additionally,transmission electron microscopy was applied to observe the subcellular structural changes in the digestive tract epithelial cells of adult P.dendritica during the ingestion of chloroplasts.It was discovered that,under starvation conditions,chloroplasts are engulfed by the digestive tract epithelial cells.The thylakoid membrane and pyrenoid gradually degrade over time,ultimately forming lipid droplets.This study provides a systematic description of the embryonic development process of P.dendritica in indoor cultures and records the cellular processes involved in the ingestion of algal chloroplasts by the digestive tract epithelial cells of adult specimens.The research findings provide technical parameters for artificial breeding of P.dendritica and lay an important foundation for studying the metabolic processes of ingested chloroplasts in its cells and their interactions with host cells.关键词
