摘要
Abstract
In the ecological niche theory, niche differentiation is considered an important mechanism affecting species coexistence.Niche differentiation predicts that different species in a community will have varying responses to local environmental factors. In this study, the relationship between five important topographic factors and the abundance of the four most abundant groups of different types of species were analyzed by using open-access data from the Barro Colorado Island(BCI)50 hm2 plot in Panama, which were classified depending on their phylogenetic distance,at a scale of 80 m×80 m.To enhance the reliability of data analysis,we proposed a method for correcting edge effects during subplot division.Specifically,an individual near or on the subplot boundaries was proportionally allocated to these subplots based on the projected area of its canopy. We found that the five topographic factors significantly influenced species abundance within the community, and different types of species exhibit varied responses to these factors, consistent with predictions from ecological niche theory.Comparison of traditional quadrat division methods with our results after correction of edge effects revealed a marked improvement in model fitting.关键词
