Impact of Digital Economy and New Productivity on Eco-Efficiency in the Yellow River Basin

Abstract
Improving eco-efficiency is an essential requirement for fully implementing the major national strategy of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.However,the problems such as low water use efficiency in industry and agriculture and slow transformation of the energy industry,which exist in the rapid advancement of ecological civilization construction,are hindering the im-provement of eco-efficiency.In order to explore the impact of the digital economy and new quality productivity on eco-efficiency in the Yellow River Basin and provide references for quickly enhancing eco-efficiency in the basin,based on the analysis of the influence mechanisms of the digital economy and new quality productivity on eco-efficiency,this paper used the Super-SBM model to calculate eco-efficiency,and the en-tropy method to calculate the development levels of the digital economy and new quality productivity.Then,a spatial Durbin model was built to empirically analyze the impact of the digital economy and new quality productivity on eco-efficiency in the Yellow River Basin and their spatial spillover effects.A threshold effect model was also built to test whether the impact of the digital economy and new quality productivity on eco-efficiency was phased and nonlinear.The results show that a)the eco-efficiency in the Yellow River Basin has shown a steady upward trend after a brief decline at the beginning of the research period,and at the end of the research period,it presents a pattern of downstream＞upstream＞midstream in space.b)The digital economy and new quality productivity have significant positive impacts on eco-efficiency,and both have spatial spillover effects.c)The impact of the digital economy and new quality productivity on eco-efficiency is phased and nonlin-ear,and both have double thresholds.Only when the two are coordinated can their positive effects be fully exerted.d)Each province(re-gion)in the upper,middle,and lower reaches of the Yellow River should adopt differentiated strategies for improving eco-efficiency based on their respective development levels of the digital economy and new quality productivity,and actively cooperate with neighboring provinces(regions)to jointly enhance the overall eco-efficiency of the basin.关键词
