Process optimization of decolorization of indigo wastewater by cationic starch flocculant

Abstract
Addressing the challenges of high chromaticity and poor degradability in indigo dyeing wastewater from denim production,utilizing cationic starch flocculant as the core treatment agent,the effects of substitution degree(DS),stirring speed,and pH on decolorization efficiency were systematically investigated through single-factor experiments and orthogonal experiments.Dynamic Zeta potential analysis was integrated to elucidate the dominant role of the charge neutralization mechanism.Results demonstrated that under the optimal conditions of DS=0.14,stirring speed=150 r/min,and pH=8,the decolorization rate exceeded 90%.When the Zeta potential reached neutrality,the charge neutralization effect was most pronounced,and the sludge yield is reduced by 20%compared to traditional flocculants.The modified starch exhibits cost-effectiveness and significant environmental advantages,providing scalable process parameters and theoretical foundations for the green and efficient treatment of indigo-containing wastewater.关键词
