Platelets in Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment:Research Progress and Challenges

Abstract
Platelets,in addition to their critical roles in hemostasis and wound healing,have been shown to participate in several key stages of tumorigenesis,including tumor growth,tumor cell extravasation,invasion,and distant metastasis.Upon activation,platelets secrete a variety of molecules,such as growth factors,lipids,and extracellular vesicles,which coordinate local and distant crosstalk between the tumor and host.This enhances the malignancy of tumor cells and pro-motes tumor invasion and colonization of distant organs.Moreover,platelets can capture proteins and transcripts from the peripheral circulation,either directly or through induction,resulting in specific proteomic and transcriptomic expression patterns in platelets from cancer patients.These platelet expression profiles serve as valuable biomarkers for early cancer detection and disease monitoring.Given the critical role of platelets in tumor progression and their ability to carry tumor-as-sociated molecular cargo,platelet-based molecular diagnostics and antiplatelet therapies present promising strategies for im-proving cancer diagnosis and treatment outcomes.This review provides a detailed examination of the dynamic roles of plate-lets in tumor development and progression,explores their potential applications in cancer diagnosis,prognosis,and monito-ring treatment responses,and discusses the challenges in developing precise antiplatelet strategies for safe and effective clinical cancer therapy.关键词
