Effect of High-Intensity Interval Training on Peak Oxygen Uptake,Quali-ty of Life,Body Composition and Cancer-Related Fatigue in Patients with Breast Cancer:A Meta-Analysis

Abstract
Objective:To comprehensively and quantita-tively evaluate the efficacy of high-intensity interval training(HIIT)in the rehabilitation of patients with breast cancer through a Meta-analysis,and to further validate the feasibility of HIIT application in cancer populations.Methods:Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on the intervention effects of HI-IT in patients with breast cancer were retrieved from databases including CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,CBM,PubMed,Web of Science,The Cochrane Library,CINAHL Embase,Scopus,and Medline up to June 2024.After literature screening,infor-mation extraction,and quality assessment by two researchers,Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan5.3 software.This protocol has been registered on the PROSPERO platform(registration number:CRD42024561661).Results:A total of 18 studies were included.Meta-analysis results indicate that HIIT significantly enhances peak oxygen uptake(SMD=0.33,95%Cl:0.18~0.49,Z=4.15,P<0.001)and quality of life(SMD=0.46,95%CI:0.13~0.79,Z=2.77,P=0.006)in patients with breast cancer,alleviates cancer-related fatigue(SMD=-0.36,95%CI:-0.58~-0.14,Z=3.15,P=0.002),and improves body composition,particularly in terms of body weight(SMD=-0.23,95%CI:-0.39~-0.06,Z=2.64,P=0.008),fat mass(SMD=-0.29,95%CI:-0.53~-0.04,Z=2.31,P=0.020),and lean body mass(SMD=0.37,95%CI:0.09~0.66,Z=2.54,P=0.010).However,HIIT does not significantly affect body fat percentage(SMD=-0.09,95%CI:-0.46~0.29,Z=0.46,P=0.650).Conclusion:HIIT effectively enhances peak oxygen up-take,mitigates cancer-related fatigue,and improves the quality of life in patients with breast cancer.Additionally,it amelio-rates body weight,fat mass and lean body mass,but does not significantly reduce body fat percentage.关键词
