Expanding Dimensions and Innovative Pathways:Heritage Environment Conservation of Beijing Central Axis Driven by World Heritage Nomination

Abstract
This study systematically reviews the evolution of environmental conservation concepts and strategies for World Cultural Heritage sites globally and domestically.By contextualising the analysis within the comprehensive environmental remediation efforts during the World Heritage nomination phase of the Beijing Central Axis,it identifies four critical challenges:ambiguity in conservation objectives,intensifying human-environment conflicts,technological gaps in systematic governance,and deficiencies in collaborative mechanisms.To address these,the research proposes a four-pronged methodology:(1)establishing a value-driven framework,(2)leveraging livelihood enhancement to drive in-depth governance,(3)adopting a full-cycle dynamic planning service system,and(4)innovating multi-stakeholder collaboration mechanisms.These methods were applied to the environmental remediation of the Bell and Drum Towers' adjacent areas,resulting in the development of a toolbox comprising 12 technical modules.The findings provide actionable insights for environmental governance of urban heritage sites or heritage areas embedded in high-density urban environments,bridging theoretical innovation with practical implementation.关键词
