Professor YANG Qinhe's Experience in Treating Intractable Insomnia in Middle-aged and Elderly People

Abstract
Intractable insomnia is a common condition among middle-aged and elderly individuals.It is charac-terized by a complex pathogenesis and frequent recurrence,severely affecting patients' quality of life and ability to work.Professor YANG Qinhe,with over 40 years of clinical experience,has developed unique and effective approaches for trea-ting intractable insomnia in this population.He advocates treating insomnia in middle-aged and elderly patients "from the liver perspective",taking into account their common physiological characteristics,such as liver and kidney deficiency and insufficiency of essence and blood.His therapeutic principles emphasize soothing,nourishing,and softening the liver,in-tegrating the treatment of the liver,spleen,and kidney,and harmonizing the heart and liver.Professor YANG highlights the importance of combining syndrome differentiation with disease diagnosis from both traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and Western medicine perspectives,as well as the integrated use of acupuncture and herbal medicine.Commonly modified pre-scriptions include Chaihu Shugan Powder,Xiaoyao Powder,Guipi Decoction,and Zishui Qinggan Decoction.This integrated approach has demonstrated remarkable clinical efficacy and provides a new perspective for the TCM diagnosis and treat-ment of intractable insomnia.关键词
