Suitable Planting Areas,Growth Patterns,and Cultivation Duration of Cultivated Saposhnikovia divaricata

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effects of suitable planting areas,growth patterns,and cultivation duration on the quality of cultivated Saposhnikovia divaricata,aiming to address issues of poor and inconsistent medicinal quality.Methods:Samples from dif-ferent areas,growth patterns,and cultivation years were collected.The apparent color of sample powders was quantified using a col-orimeter,and the total color difference(E*ab)was calculated.High-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)was used to sim-ultaneously determine the content of prim-O-glucosylcimifugin,cimifugin,sec-O-glucosylhamaudol,and 3′-O-angeloylhamaudol.Factor analysis was conducted on the color parameters and the contents of these four chromones.Results:With the extension of cul-tivation years,the b* and E*ab values ofS.divaricate powder decreased,indicating a reduction in surface yellowness,while the ac-cumulation of chromone compounds increased.With the increase in cultivation years,the intrinsic quality(chromone content)showed an increasing trend.A general trend of higher chromone content was observed in multi-year cultivatedS.divaricate com-pared to one-year cultivation.Excluding six batches of cultivated S.divaricate with unknown growth patterns,among the multi-year cultivated samples,10 out of 13 seed-sown batches scored above 7.5,resembling the quality of wild samples,whereas 7 seedling-transplanted batches scored around 5,indicating relatively lower quality.Conclusion:Multi-year cultivation using seed-sowing methods in areas with an annual average temperature≤11℃ is recommended.These findings provide a basis for the rational selec-tion of high-quality cultivation regions,growth patterns,and durations,and may offer guidance for the cultivation of other medicinal plants.关键词
