Abstract

Sometimes,it is challenging to avoid the side inlet/outlet of a pumped storage power station that con-nects the tunnel with a complex layout.When the distance between the two is close,there is a serious bias flow phenomenon of the inlet/outlet under the outflow condition,which leads to the uneven distribution of the velocity of the trash rack section and the uneven distribution of the orifice flow.However,due to the limitation of topographic and geological conditions in practical engineering,the adjustable range of tunnels with complex layout is limited,which brings great difficulty to the optimization of hydraulic design of inlet/outlet.In order to solve the hydraulic problems when the inlet/outlet with the complex tunnel layout,this paper uses the numerical simulation method to study the hydraulic characteristics of the inlet/outlet with the complex tunnel layout,and puts forward the corre-sponding optimization method.The results show that when the inlet/outlet with the complex tunnel layout,the ori-fice flow ratio of the outflow condition exceeds the range of 0.9-1.1,and the non-uniformity coefficient of the flow velocity of the trash rack section is greater than 2.Under the condition of not changing the layout of the tunnel,an optimization method is proposed,that is,orifice flow distribution is improved by reducing the retreat distance of the middle partition wall,and the flow velocity distribution of the trash rack section is improved by adjusting the bottom slope of the inlet/outlet.The influence range of the complex tunnel layout is further analyzed,and it is de-termined that when the distance between the complex tunnel layout and the inlet/outlet is less than 20D,its influ-ence on the hydraulic characteristics of the inlet/outlet should be considered.The research results can provide guid-ance for the shape design and optimization of the inlet/outlet of pumped storage power station.
