摘要

Abstract

[Objective]This study aims to evaluate the impact of orchard grass planting on soil and water loss,and to clarify its control effectiveness on soil erosion,thereby providing a scientific basis for optimizing the management of regional orchard grass planting and improving soil and water conservation efficiency in the Loess Plateau dryland area.[Methods]Based on the WEPP model,an orchard in the Loess Plateau dryland region was selected as the research subject.Soil and water loss were simulated under different precipitation scenarios combining different precipitation levels(natural precipitation and precipitation increased by 10%,20%,30%),different slopes(5°,10°,15°,20°,25°),and different land management practices(bare land,clean tillage,and grass planting).Bare land and clean tillage served as control treatments to assess the soil erosion mitigation effect of grass planting in orchards.[Results](1)Overall,the annual total soil moisture of the three crop management modes showed a"W"-shaped fluctuation,with values ranked as:bare land>clean tillage>grass planting.Compared with the control modes,the daily average total soil moisture,evaporation,and percolation under grass planting were respectively 31.7%and 31.3%,36.1%and 31.6%,and 63.0%and 67.7%lower than those under bare land and clean tillage modes.(2)Under the same slope conditions,grass planting had the lowest annual average runoff and soil loss,with soil loss significantly increasing in a linear relationship with slope(p<0.001).However,the rate of soil loss increase was 52.4%and 47.4%lower under grass planting compared to bare land and clean tillage modes.Annual average runoff followed the trend:bare land(124.4 mm)>clean tillage(121.4 mm)>grass planting(87.4 mm).Grass planting also reduced annual average soil loss by 49.2%and 43.3%,compared to bare land and clean tillage(p<0.01).(3)Simulated soil erosion curves under varying slope and management combinations showed that,for all treatments,the maximum soil loss occurred at a slope length of 18 m.After erosion onset,slope steepening was most pronounced in the order:bare land>clean tillage>grass planting.(4)Across all management practices,annual average soil loss increased with increasing precipitation.However,the increase in soil loss under enhanced precipitation scenarios was consistently lower under grass planting than under the control treatments.This increase was also statistically significant(p<0.01),and grass planting showed a growing advantage in erosion control as precipitation increased.[Conclusion]Orchard grass planting plays a positive and significant role in reducing soil and water loss,improves the water and fertilizer conservation in orchard soil,and constitutes an effective strategy to mitigate soil erosion in orchard ecosystems of the Loess Plateau dryland areas.
