Abstract

Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of ultraviolet radiation(UV)and dark deposition as an incubation water treatment on Gloiopeltis furcata spore development and the nutrient of water in order to aid in the water treatment of artificial seeding of Gloiopeltis.Attached G.furcata spores were cultured for 40 d in sea water that had been exposed to various UV treatments for 0 h,6 h,12 h,18 h,and 24 h.Then,G.furcata spores were cultured for 40 d in sea water that had been subjected to 12 h of UV exposure,various lengths of time(5 d,60 d),and the control condition.The water treated by 5 d of dark deposition had the highest inorganic nitrogen level,whereas the water treated by 60 d of dark deposition had the lowest.With longer UV treatment times,the amount of inorganic nitrogen in the water rose.Concentration of inorganic phosphorus was much lower in the water that had undergone either a 5 d or 60 d dark deposition treatment,whereas there was no discernible difference among the other UV treatment durations.In comparison to the control,the attached spores of G.furcata developed more quickly in the water treated by UV for 12-24 h,and the percentage of sprouting discs was significantly greatest in this water.For G.furcata spores cultured in the water treated without UV or dark deposition,the percentage of attachment was the lowest and the discs expanded more slowly.The sprouting rate of G.furcata disc was highest when the water-incubated spores were treated with UV light for 12 hours,while it was the lowest when the water-incubated spores were treated with dark deposition for 60 d.The group of diverse water treatments did not significantly differ in the G.furcata disc survival rate.The outcomes demonstrated that UV could replace dark deposition in the water treatment of artificial Gloiopeltis seeding.
