Applying Rodgers evolutionary concept analysis to define information overload in medical field

Abstract
Objective:To clarify the concept of information overload in medical field by Rodgers evolutionary concept analysis method,so as to provide corresponding guidance for clinical nursing practice.Methods:CNKI,WanFang Data,VIP,Google Scholar,PubMed,Web of Science and other databases were systematically searched from the establishment of the database to December 31,2023.Applying Rodgers evolutionary concept analysis,the evolution,conceptual attributes,causes and consequences,identification of related concepts,evaluation tools,and typical cases of information overload concept were analyzed and discussed.Results:The concept of information overload in the medical field was a progressive process,including three defining characteristics:information overflow,management out of control,and negative impact.Its prerequisite conditions included both the universal antecedents of information overload and its uniqueness.The outcomes included negative personal emotions and behavioral intentions,information avoidance,and decreased medical quality.Conclusions:Clarifying the concept of information overload in the medical field could help to identify better it in clinical practice.And it may provide reference for more comprehensive clinical diagnosis,treatment,and nursing work.关键词
