Influence of sand adding method on migration and placement of proppant in complex fractures
摘要
Abstract
The fracturing operations in unconventional reservoirs in North America have shown that the two sanding methods,namely constant sand concentration and stepped sand concentration,yield similar production results.The former method has advantages in reducing operational difficulties and risks,as well as saving the usage of high-viscosity fluids.However,cur-rently there is a lack of quantitative evaluation on the differences in proppant placement effects of the two sanding methods under different conditions,and there is a lack of theoretical support for the large-scale application of the constant sand con-centration method.In this study,using a large-scale visual particle transport testing equipment with rough fracture walls and branching fractures of different angles,a set of comparative experiments was conducted with constant sanding and stepped sanding under different operating parameters.The results indicate that there is generally little difference in the morphology of proppant placement between the two sanding methods in both the main fracture and branch fractures,with constant sanding showing a slight advantage in filling the distal end of the main fracture and the far-well branch fractures.As the sand concen-tration increases,the difference in sandbank morphology between the two sanding methods gradually decreases,with a differ-ence of 15.6%in sandbank height between the two methods at a sand concentration of 10%,and a difference of 3.2%at a sand concentration of 20%.As the proportion of high sand concentration stages decreases,the difference in sandbank morphol-ogy with the constant sanding also decreases,and the length of the sandbank gradually increases.Additionally,varying the par-ticle size,density,and viscosity of the fracturing fluid can also reduce the differences between the two sanding methods.关键词
