Recent advances in grouting technology for geotechnical and underground engineering

Abstract
[Objective]The construction of underground facilities—such as transportation tunnels,parking lots,and commercial streets—has led to the large-scale development and utilization of underground space.Due to the complexity of geotechnical media in terms of composition and structure,as well as the intrusion of groundwater,disasters such as water inrush and collapse frequently occur during geotechnical project construction.Grouting can effectively enhance the impermeability and bearing performance of rock and soil,thereby ensuring construction safety and the stability of underground structures.[Methods]This study analyzes grouting technology in hydropower engineering,focusing on high-polymer grouting,microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation,and enzyme-induced calcium carbonate precipitation methods;discusses tunnel engineering grouting technology in the contexts of subway and offshore construction;and examines additional grouting techniques used in mining and pile foundation engineering.[Results]Grouting has extended the service life of hydropower projects,ensured the safe operation of tunnels,enabled the safe extraction of minerals,and improved the bearing capacity of pile foundations.[Conclusions]Scientific innovation and advancements in grouting technology will undoubtedly promote the high-quality development of geotechnical and underground engineering,contributing notably to economic and social progress.The instability and failure of geotechnical engineering are related to the local weak medium of groundwater and soil mass.By preparing grouting materials into a certain proportion of slurry and injecting it into the weak or water rich areas of geotechnical structures under pressure,it can effectively achieve the effects of filling,cementation,reinforcement,and water blocking.关键词
