Study on processing technology of Radix Tetrastigmatis Hemsleyani from different producing areas

Abstract
Objective To determine the optimal processing method for Radix Tetrastigmatis Hemsleyani(RTH)by comparing the effects of different producing areas and processing methods on its quality.Methods Crude drug samples of RTH were collected from different producing areas.Differences in quality among samples from different areas,as well as the effects of different processing methods(fresh-processing,steaming,moistening,and soaking)on quality,were evaluated according to the quality standards outlined in the 2015 edi-tion of Chinese Herbal Decoction Pieces Processing Specification of Zhejiang Province.Results The extract content of RTH from Zhejiang Province was lower than that from other provinces;the three softening methods(steaming,moistening,soaking)had minimal impact on the appearance,and all resulting products met the quality standards.The extract content ranked as follows:crude drug>steamed prod-uct ≈ moistened product>soaked product.Furthermore,the extract yield of the steamed product was more stable than that of the mois-tened product.For five batches of fresh RTH,the extract yield after different processing methods ranked as follows:crude drug(simply dried)>fresh-processed product>steamed product ≈ moistened product>soaked product.The fresh-processed product showed the highest extract yield among the processed samples.Conclusion The extract content failed to reflect the geo-authenticity of RTH from Zhejiang Province.For the crude drug,steaming was the optimal processing method,maximizing the retention of extract content with reliable results.Fresh-processing at the producing area could minimize the loss of effective components associated with repeated soften-ing and drying cycles,making it the best processing method worthy of promotion.关键词
