How do New Quality Productive Forces Drive Low-Carbon Transition of Firms

Abstract
As an advanced productive force characterized by technology-driven innovation and green-low-carbon orientation,New Quality Productive Forces(NQPF)not only reshape production paradigms in traditional industries but also provide systematic solutions for corporate low-carbon transitions.However,existing research remains insufficient in exploring the mechanisms and micro-level pathways through which NQPF facilitate such transitions.To address this gap,this study aims to uncover micro-level evidence of NQPF's role in promoting corporate decarbonization while offering strategic references for differentiated governance and corporate decision-making.Specifically,we address three core questions:first,how do NQPF influence corporate carbon emission intensity?Second,through what mechanisms does this impact occur?Third,do significant differences exist in carbon emission intensity trajectories across heterogeneous enterprises during NQPF development? To systematically address these questions,we construct a scientifically robust evaluation index system for corporate NQPF based on data from Chinese listed companies from 2015 to 2021.Employing empirical analysis,we investigate NQPF's effects on carbon emission intensity,its underlying mechanisms,and boundary conditions shaped by corporate heterogeneity.The results demonstrate that NQPF enhancement significantly reduces carbon emission intensity.Mechanism analysis reveals four critical pathways:improving green innovation efficiency,alleviating financing constraints,attracting government subsidies,and amplifying public engagement.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the carbon reduction effect of NQPF is particularly pronounced in capital-intensive and technology-intensive industries,non-state-owned enterprises,and small and medium-sized enterprises. Compared to prior literature,this study contributes three key innovations:first,based on a profound understanding of the core connotation of NQPF,this study constructs a more comprehensive corporate NQPF index system.Compared to existing research,this paper incorporates important indicators closely related to the definition of NQPF,such as the level of digital economy development,providing a deeper perspective for subsequent research.Second,this study is the first to quantitatively analyze the impact of NQPF on carbon emission intensity at the micro-enterprise level and reveal its underlying mechanisms,offering micro-level evidence for understanding how NQPF drive the synergistic mechanism of"carbon reduction and efficiency improvement".Third,through heterogeneity analysis,this study identifies the differentiated conditions under which NQPF drive corporate low-carbon transition,providing a research basis for constructing differentiated policy interventions. Building on the aforementioned findings,this study systematically reveals the mechanisms through which NQPF drive corporate low-carbon transitions,thereby advancing theoretical comprehension of NQPF development in enterprises.The conclusions provide robust support for policymakers to strategically cultivate corporate NQPF development under decarbonization mandates,while proposing tailored policy recommendations for heterogeneous enterprises.These insights empower businesses to harmonize green transitions with high-quality development,achieving synergistic improvements in environmental stewardship and economic competitiveness.关键词
