Discerning the Theoretical Foundations and Core Theories of"Chinese Nation Studies"

Abstract
Establishing"Chinese Nation Studies"constitutes a pivotal task in developing ethnology with Chinese characteristics in the new era,requiring adherence to disciplinary norms and a coherent theoretical architecture spanning epistemological foundations,core theories,and associated frameworks.Grounded in Marxist materialist dialectics—specif-ically its theory on the relationship between wholes and parts—this discipline derives epistemological legitimacy from the ontological attributes of its research object(the Chinese nation),research content orientation,and methodological impera-tives,while its core theoretical structure must systematically address fundamental questions:defining the Chinese nation as a historically evolving entity characterized by historical continuity,ethno-ontological substance,and pluralistic unity,conceptualizing the Chinese Nation Community through synthesis of essential connotations and extensional elements,and delineating the discipline's scope(objects,content,methods)and positioning—thus necessitating alignment with general ethnological norms while foregrounding the unique characteristics of the Chinese Nation Community and clarifying inter-disciplinary relationships with adjacent fields.关键词
