摘要

Abstract

The ecological environment of inland river basins is highly dependent on water resources,and clarifying the ecological water consumption patterns in arid regions is critical to the optimization of water resources management.Based on multi-source remote sensing data,we analyzed the evolution of land use changes in the Tarim River Basin,Xinjiang from 2000 to 2020.The improved Penman-Monteith formula was employed to estimate the spatiotemporal patterns of ecological water consumption for various land use types(cropland,forestland,and grassland).Additionally,spatial correlation a-nalysis was performed to identify key drivers of ecological water consumption.The results show that sig-nificant changes in land use structure occurred in the Tarim River Basin from 2000 to 2020,with crop-land area increasing by 15,300 km2,while forestland and grassland areas decreasing by 1,100 and 8,300 km2,respectively.Ecological water consumption across land use types exhibited distinct season-al variations,peaking in July.The multi-year average water consumption quotas were 428.85 mm for cropland,242.47 mm for forestland,and 128.24 mm for grassland.Correspondingly,the multi-year average water consumption volumes were 15.10×109,3.70×109,and 39.64×109 m3,respectively.Declining precipitation,increasing evapotranspiration,and human-driven land use changes were the main drivers of intensified water scarcity in terrestrial ecosystems.Among these,cropland expansion e-merged as a primary contributor to the rising ecological water consumption.These findings can provide a technical support for advancing ecological conservation efforts and optimizing water resources alloca-tion strategies in the Tarim River Basin.
