Abstract

To address the low correlation between conventional indexes of mineral powder and the pavement performance of gussasphalt(GA),asphalt mastic penetration is used to reflect the compatibility between mineral powder and asphalt,and as a special supplementary index of mineral powder for GA.The results showed that the asphalt mastic penetra-tion was sensitive to the change of mineral powder quality and content,and effectively distinguish mineral powder with simi-lar conventional indicators.Compared with the existing mineral powder indexes,the asphalt mastic penetration exhibited stron-ger correlation with the fluidity and high-temperature stability of GA.The action mechanism of mineral powder on GA can be generalized into two aspects:viscosity increasing and temperature sensitivity adjustment.The asphalt mastic penetration at a single test temperature can characterize the viscosity increasing effect of mineral powder on asphalt,but it is not enough to describe the adjustment ability of mineral powder on GA temperature sensitivity.
