Abstract

The research simulates the whole process of shaft construction by using numerical software in the context of Nan-jing Jianning West Road River-crossing Tunnel underpassing Yifengmen Ancient City Wall project,and systematically studies the mechanism of engineering activities on the strata,enclosure system and adjacent historical building.The research re-sults show that the soil outside the shaft will have obvious reinforcement effect,leading to a reduction in the deformation of the stratum as a result of the disturbance.The internal force distribution of the envelope structure changes significantly.The additional stress field causes the bending moment and lateral displacement of its cross-section to increase nonlinearly.The pile foundation in the city gate area experiences significant horizontal displacement,and the change in the interaction mecha-nism between piles and soil leads to a weakening of the foundation's bearing capacity,resulting in significant settlement of the upper city tower.The displacement concentration zone is formed in the connection area between the new and old structures due to a sudden change in stiffness,which poses a dual risk of crack initiation and propagation in this area.In addition,based on comprehensive analysis of technical factors,such as the deformation of strata,underground continuous walls and city walls,it is determined that the shaft construction sequence with synchronous excavation is the best construction sequence.The research results can provide reference for the design and construction of similar projects.
