多代家庭中夹心世代的代际照料对健康的影响及其机制
Associations and their potential mechanisms between intergenerational caregiving and health outcomes among sandwich generation within four-generation families
摘要
Abstract
Intergenerational caregiving serves as a fundamental mechanism through which both older adults and children receive care resources. The health of caregivers is crucial in ensuring the sustainability and quality of caregiving, particularly in contexts where individuals provide care for both older and younger generations. However, existing research on caregiver health presents several limitations, particularly in addressing the disconnection between caregiving for older adults and children and in comprehensively considering health-related outcomes. This study employs a mixed-methods approach within a four-generation family structure(G1 → G2 → G3 → G4)to examine the effects and mechanisms of intergenerational caregiving—whether directed toward parents, grandchildren,or both—on the physical and mental health of the sandwich generation(G2).First,it explores how the sandwich generation allocates caregiving resources across generations.Second, using intergenerational relationship theory as a conceptual framework,it analyzes the impact of different caregiving patterns on caregivers' health.Third, drawing on role theory, the study investigates the mechanisms through which these caregiving patterns affect caregivers' well-being,integrating both individual-level(quantitative research)and social-role(qualitative research)perspectives. Finally, the paper discusses the evolving nature of family support within this caregiving model, providing insights to inform the development of a support system that prioritizes caregiver health. The ultimate objective is to contribute to a population service system that addresses the needs of both older adults and children, thereby promoting long-term demographic balance.关键词
