Petrological and Geochemical Characteristics of Sandstone of Kuqa Formation in Qiuritage Area of Kuqa Depression and Its Geological Significance

Abstract
As a key area of uranium exploration in the northern margin of Tarim Basin,Qiulitage structure belt presented a series of radioactive anomalies and uranium mineralization and produced Ridalike ore deposit in the sandstone of Kuqa Formation.However,research on the ore-controlling factors and metallogenic pattern is still weak,which restricts the progress of regional uranium exploration.Based on systematic geological survey,exploration data and a large number of sample analysis and test results,this study focused on the spatial differentiation of sandstone petrology and geochemical characteristics of Kuqa Formation in Qiulitage structural belt,and deepens the understanding of uranium mineralization mechanism.The study found that Kuqa Formation was formed in a semi-arid to semi-humid sedimentary environment as a whole.The organic matter such as charcoal is poor in the formation,and the oxidation extended quite deep along the drip and formed a large-scale interlayer oxidation zone,which activated and migrated the uranium in the sand body to form an internal source for uranium mineralization and makes up the disadvantage of shorts mineralization time.Through further comparative analysis,it was found that the western end of Qiulitage was controlled by the both the favorable source bodies of Muzhaerte and Tuoshuer,granite gravel and debris components are widely developed in the sand bodies,which are characterized by relatively high contents of SiO2,Al2O3,K2O and Na2O,indicating that the source area was dominated by medium-acid rocks and good for uranium source.It is critical that Tomur provenance lobes was not the structurally controlled by Qiulitage Mountains and could transport the uranium-rich detrital materials to the open area of the Await depression and other basins for a long distance,which greatly improves the uranium mineralization potential and prospecting space in the northern margin of Tarim Basin.关键词
