Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the hybridization effects of Tianhua meat sheep and Hu sheep,providing a refe-rence for the large-scale promotion of the Tianhua meat sheep breed.F1 lambs from the cross between Tianhua meat sheep and Hu sheep were selected.A comprehensive assessment was conducted,including measurements of body weight(birth weight,weaning weight,3-month-old weight,and 6-month-old weight),body measurements(2-month-old,3-month-old,and 6-month-old),slaughter performance and meat quality of 6-month-old lambs.Subsequently,three nonlinear models(Logistic,Von Bertalanffy,and Gompertz)were employed to identify the optimal growth curve model through comparative analysis.Statistical analysis revealed that there was no significant difference in birth weight between male F1 lamb and male Hu lamb,as well as between female F1 lamb and female Hu lamb(P>0.05),but the weaning weight,3-month-old weight and 6-month-old weight of F1 lamb were significantly increased(P<0.05).At weaning,the chest circumference of male F1 and female lambs was significantly higher than that of Hu lamb(P<0.05),and the tube circumference of female F1 lamb was also significantly higher than that of female Hu lamb(P<0.05),while the rest of the body size indexes were not significantly different(P>0.05).At 3 months old,except for no difference in body length between male F1 lamb and male Hu lamb(P>0.05),the other body size indexes of F1 lamb were signifi-cantly higher than those of Hu lamb(P<0.05).At 6 months old,except for no difference in body length between male F1 lamb and male Hu lamb(P<0.05),the other body size indexes of F1 lamb were significantly higher than those of Hu lamb(P<0.05).The pre-slaughter weight,carcass weight and eye muscle area of male F1 lamb at 6 months old were sig-nificantly higher than those of female F1 lambs(P<0.01),while the slaughter rate was extremely significantly lower(P<0.01),and the GR value was significantly lower(P<0.05).The organ weight of male F1 lamb was significantly higher than that of female F1 lamb(P<0.05 or P<0.01).The pH24h,water loss rate of male F1 lamb were significantly higher than those of female F1 lamb(P<0.01),while b*45 min and cooked meat rate were extremely significantly lower(P<0.01).The fat,water and collagen contents in the muscle of male F1 lamb were extremely significantly higher than those of female F1 lamb(P<0.01),the salt content was extremely significantly lower(P<0.01),and there was no significant difference in muscle texture(P>0.05).The goodness of fit(R2)of the three models was above 0.95,and the Gompertz model's fit-ting curve tended to consistent with the actual growth curve,with model expressions of W=57.493e-2.670×exp(-0.455t)and W=47.960e-2.556×exp(-0.457t)for the male and female,respectively.In conclusion,the generation from the cross between Tian-hua meat sheep and Hu sheep has fast growth and development,excellent slaughter performance and meat quality.The Gompertz model is the most ideal model.
