Global Epidemiological Characteristics and Impact of HPAI Outbreaks in Animals from 2021 to 2024
摘要
Abstract
In order to investigate global prevalence, characteristics and impact of highly pathogenic avian influenza(HPAI)outbreaks in animals, relevant data ranging from 2021 to 2024 were collected from official websites of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the P.R.China,the China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center, etc.,and then analyzed based on the dimensions of space, time and intergroup.22 138 global HPAI outbreaks in animals were reported from 2021 to 2024,affecting 109 countries and regions, characterized by global transmission that encompassed all continents, particularly in Europe and the Americas;global HPAI outbreaks tended to follow an inverted U-shaped curve, peaked in 2022(8 892 outbreaks),and then decreased year by year, with obvious seasonal characteristics, that was, frequently in winter and spring, but less in autumn;the outbreaks were more severe in wild birds, compared with those in domestic poultry, increasingly spilling over into mammals;and the responsible pathogens were complex and divided into 12 subtypes, such as H5N1,H5N8,H5N5 and H7.The HPAI outbreaks not only significantly disrupted the stability of global poultry-derived food supply, posing a threat to global poultry genetic resources, and more seriously endangering ecosystem stability, but also threatened public health security. Therefore,it was necessary to improve prevention and control measures against HPAI outbreaks,to intensively monitor outbreaks, and to implement mitigation strategies by levels and categories, and thus to reduce their impact on food supply, ecology and public health.关键词
