Development of the Fertility Anxiety Questionnaire and Its Validity and Reliability among Chinese Reproductive-age Population

Abstract
Objective:To develop and validate the fertility anxiety questionnaire(FAQ)for Chinese reproductive-age population.Methods:Firstly,based on the theoretical framework of fertility anxiety derived from prior qualitative inter-views,the initial questionnaire was formed.Secondly,item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were conducted in first sample(n=964),and then the confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)and reliability and validity analysis were performed in sec-ond sample(n=966).Results:The final 24-item FAQ comprised six dimensions:negative impact anxiety,child health anxi-ety,pregnancy and childbirth anxiety,child education anxiety,parenting efficacy anxiety,and spousal support anxiety.The questionnaire demonstrated excellent internal consistency(Cronbach's α=0.971 overall,0.928～0.960 for subscales)and split-half reliability(0.872 overall,0.911～0.950 for subscales).CFA supported the six-factor structure with good model fit(x2/df=4.817,RMSEA=0.063,SRMR=0.029,CFI=0.968).Conclusion:The FAQ developed in this study has good reliabil-ity and validity,which can serve as an effective tool for assessing fertility anxiety of the reproductive-age population in China.关键词
