Revision of the Chinese Brief Version of Király's Gaming Motivation Inventory among a Sample of University Students

Abstract
Objective:The present study aimed to test the reliability,validity and measurement invariance of the Chi-nese brief version of Kirdly's game motivation inventory(GMI-CB)among a sample of Chinese university students.Meth-ods:A total of 3089 university students were administered using the Chinese brief version of Király's game motivation in-ventory,game disorder test,self-compensation motivation questionnaire,game flow questionnaire and the game internal and external motivation questionnaire.Results:The Chinese brief version of Király's game motivation inventory consisted of 16 items and four factors including mastery,social,self-release and game characteristics.The factor loading value of each item was between 0.434 and 0.819.The GMI-CB displayed good structural validity(x2=531.253,df=79,TLI=0.922,CFI=0.949,RMSEA=0.065,SRMR=0.042).The Cronbach's α coefficient of the total scale was 0.896 and the retest reliability was 0.862 after four weeks.The results of measurement invariance showed that the game motivation did not meet transgen-der equivalence(△CFI>0.01).Conclusion:The Chinese brief version of Király's game motivation inventory has good valid-ity and reliability among Chinese university students,which can be used to assess the gaming motivation of university stu-dents.关键词
