The Influence of Social Exclusion on Adolescent Self-injury:The Longitudinal Mediating Effect of Negative Emotion

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the trends in social exclusion,adolescent self-injury,and negative affect,and to explore the mediating effect of negative emotion between social exclusion and adolescent self-injury.Methods:Using the ostracism experience scale for adolescents,the adolescents self-harm scale and the positive and negative affect scale,1169 adolescents were followed up at three different periods with a 6-month interval.Results:①Social exclusion in early adoles-cence was relatively stable,and negative affect and self-injury increased linearly in general.②Social exclusion provided a significant direct predictor of both the initial level and development speed of self-injury in adolescents.③Social exclusion predicted the initial level of self-injury in adolescents through the initial level of negative emotion and the developmental rate of self-injury through the development speed of negative emotion.Conclusion:Social exclusion affects self-injury through the longitudinal mediation of negative emotion.关键词
