Abstract
Objective To explore the applicability and effect of mind mapping combined with formative assessment in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome differentiation teaching for foreign students.Methods A total of 213 foreign students majoring in clinical medicine from Xi'an Jiaotong University School of Medicine in Grade 2020 were selected as the study objects,105 were enrolled in the experimental group and 108 were enrolled in the control group.The control group adopted lecture-based learning(LBL)and conducted a closed-book examination on medical case records.On the basis of LBL and case-based learning(CBL),the experimental group carried out the teaching of the theory TCM syndrome differentiation teaching by combining mind maps with formative assessment.The teaching effects of the two groups of international students were compared through the total assessment scores,average scores,medical case examination scores,and questionnaire surveys.Results The total assessment scores,average scores,medical case assessment scores,and classroom activity level of the experimental group are significantly higher than those of the control group.Moreover,the satisfaction with the teaching and the degree of knowledge mastery of the experimental group are both significantly higher than those of the control group.Conclusion Mind mapping combined with formative assessment is obviously superior to traditional teaching methods in TCM syndrome differentiation teaching for foreign students,and it is worth applying and spreading.关键词
