摘要

Abstract

Proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs)have attracted much attention due to their advantages of high efficiency,low noise,and non-polluting property.However,there are still many problems that need to be solved urgently,such as the complex water man-agement system,weak medium transport capability,short service lifetime,poor stability,and high catalyst cost.Optimizing the perfor-mance of the carbon paper based gas diffusion layer(GDL)has become the key to improve the efficiency and service life time of fuel cells.In this paper,recent research progress on carbon paper-based GDL was reviewed,covering new GDL preparation processes with laser perfo-ration and patterning designs,carbon paper modification with graphene and nanofibers to enhance mechanical strength,electrical conductiv-ity,void uniformity,and graded porous structures,and improvements in water management and mass transfer performance with Teflon hy-drophobic agent,with the aim of providing a reference for the future development of PEMFCs.
