Abstract
Staygreen syndrome is a common physiological disorder in soybean fields with complex eti-ology involving multiple factors.In recent years,recurrent outbreaks of staygreen symptoms,particu-larly the"pods without seeds"phenotype,in China's Huang-Huai-Hai region have been strongly associ-ated with infestations by bean bug Riptortus pedestris,resulting in considerable economic losses.This review summarizes the biological traits of R.pedestris,highlighting the role of nutrient-rich soybean seeds in promoting its aggregation and damage.The historical occurrence of staygreen outbreaks in summer soybean-producing areas of the Huang-Huai-Hai region is also summarized.The phenomenon of insect presence without visible staygreen symptoms in the field is examined,and the underlying mechanisms of symptom development caused by R.pedestris are explored.Furthermore,shortcomings in current population monitoring practices are discussed,along with recent progress in green control strategies.This article aims to provide a foundation for elucidating the interaction mechanisms between R.pedestris and soybean,and for developing effective integrated pest management strategies in the field.关键词
