Abstract

With the expanding application of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)light detection and ranging(LiDAR)technology,its advanced capabilities have become more prominent.To address challenges such as the difficulty of measuring rock bodies in dense forest areas,low accuracy,and high operational risks,this study explored the use of LiDAR for measuring and constructing models of steep and dangerous rock formations in heavily vegetated areas.UAVs were used to collect LiDAR point clouds with a density of over 1,000 points per square meter,exploiting the strong penetration ability of LiDAR in dense forest regions to capture surface features of the mountain.Further measurements and analyses were conducted on rock slopes,crack widths,and depths.On this basis,a highly visual three-dimensional(3D)vector model was constructed using photogrammetry techniques.The LiDAR measurement method effectively eliminates the influence of vegetation,providing a detailed rock morphology model with high measurement accuracy and good detail restoration.It enables multi-angle,all-round measurement and analysis of rocks.The rock model simplifies complex field survey tasks into indoor model analysis,offering more detailed data for the study of dangerous rock formations on steep slopes at the micro-level.
