Aerodynamic characteristics of Y-spoke based on perceptual engineering
摘要
Abstract
To balance consumers' aesthetic preferences for wheel styling with the vehicles' aerodynamic performance,this paper introduces spoke offset distance and spin angle based on the Y-shaped spoke design curve model.The impact of spoke styling on the consumers' aesthetic preferences is examined through perceptual engineering,while CFD(computational fluid dynamics)simulations are utilized to investigate the flow mechanism of the entire vehicle as influenced by spoke offset distance and spin angle.An analysis of the impacts of wheel styling and both aerodynamic characteristics and consumers' aesthetic preferences shows spoke offset distance and spin angle markedly affect the vehicle's aerodynamic drag coefficient and consumers' aesthetic preferences.Finally,a verification sample is designed under wheel styling with consumers' aesthetic preference,and design parameters are adjusted without altering the aesthetic preference to improve the vehicle's flow field and reduce aerodynamic drag.The method may offer a novel approach for the integrated research and development of wheel styling design and aerodynamic performance.关键词
