What in Essence Is the Informative Value of Kantian Philosophy to Confucian Ethics?——A Tentative Discussion with Mr.Deng Xiaomang
摘要
Abstract
In the article On Kantian Philosophy's Salvation of Confucian Ethics,Deng Xiaomang reveals typical misreadings of Confucianism.Also,it manifests misreadings of Kantian philosophy,a domain in which he is well versed.The greatest misreading of Kantian philosophy lies in that he puts root evil and moral hypocrisy on aequal plane,and that he then proceeds to conclude that all that is good is hypocrisy.This misreading leads him not only to several other misreadings of Kantian philosophy,but to also misreading of Confucian ethics as well.The problems of Confucian ethics and the value of Kantian philosophy for reference to Confucian ethics resides in that Confucian ethics fail to establish on firm grounds cognitive reason and related logical deduction methods,rendering its moral tenets insufficient in universality appeal,and that,therefore,conformity with and adjustment to them may produce negative consequences.The speculative spirit and universal appeal of Kantian philosophy are just that that can help cure this defect of Confucian ethics.From the perspective of exchange and mutual learning of civilizations,it is of great significance for Confucian ethics and even our culture to draw inspirations from Kantian philosophy.关键词
