"突然"与"忽然"语体分布考察
A Survey of Stylistic Variations of"tūrán"(突然)and"hūrán"(忽然):A Corpus-based Analysis

Abstract
Utilizing natural language processing tools and large-scale corpora,this study investigates the register-based distribution of the lexical pair"tūrán"and"hūrán",revealing limitations in traditional pedagogical accounts.The findings indicate that their usage is register-sensitive:"tūrán"occurs 27 times more frequently than"hūrán"in news and broadcast registers,with its adjectival use emerging in modern vernacular Chinese and becoming prominent in journalistic writing.In contrast,"hūrán"displays adjectival syntactic behavior in entertainment journalism.Literary texts exhibit the smallest frequency gap between the two,with"hūrán"preferred for its role in representing internal psychological states,while"hūrán"is favored in news discourse for its alerting or foregrounding function.The study demonstrates that corpus-based methodologies effectively reveal nuanced lexical behavior across registers.关键词
