Tension in Linguistic Blank Signs
摘要
Abstract
This paper explores the issue of tension in linguistic blank signs,analyzes its formation mechanism and the role in meaning expression.Tension is originally a concept of physics,but it also often appears in the study of literary texts,emotional semiotics,heterogeneous signs and so on.The connotation and extension of signs,as well as the opposition and conflict between heterogeneous signs,are the key elements contributing to tension.This study focuses on the issue of linguistic blank signs,which has received relatively little attention in the field of semiotics,and analyzes the mechanism of tension generation by using two newly constructed concepts,namely,tension intensity and tension breadth,from the two types of absent signifier and absent signified.The study points out that the tension of blank signs mainly comes from the difference in their formal structure and the difference on the semantic level,and this tension can stimulate the curiosity and attention of readers,prompting them to carry out a deeper interpretation of meaning.This study can not only enrich the exploration of meaning,but also provide new perspectives and understanding paths for the artistic value of literary works.关键词
