Abstract

Cupressus gigantea is an endangered tree species under national level key protection,and its seed germination and seedling growth process have attracted wide attention from the academic circles.In this study,healthy and full Cupressus gigantea seeds were selected and soaked in 25℃of warm water for 24 h and drained for pelvic seeding.The growth time course of the four stages of the initial seedling growth stage,rapid growth stage and late growth stage was observed and recorded in detail.The results showed that the germination potential of Cupressus gigantea seeds was 43.5%,the germination rate was 47%,and the emergence stage of the seeds was 28 d,and the initial growth stage was 75 d.During the rapid growth period,the high growth of Cupressus gigantea seedlings was basically synchronized with the ground diameter growth stage,and the high growth of seedlings was gradually slowed,and the ground diameter kept thickening continuously.The results show that the germination of Cupressus gigantea requires strict hydrothermal conditions,and the differentiation between the aboveground and underground parts of seedlings in the late growth period may be a physiological strategy to adapt to the dormant period.The results have theoretical significance for understanding the environmental adaptability strategy of seed germination and seedling growth,and practical significance for the scientific management of hydrothermal conditions in the nursery.
