Effects of Antler velvet and Panax ginseng Ethanol Extracts on Growth Performance and Antioxidative Ability of Quail

Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of Chinese herbal medicines on the performance of livestock and poultry during intensive livestock and poultry breeding,210 5-day-old quails were selected and supplemented with 1.0%,2.5%and 5.0%ginseng and antler alcohol extract in the basal diet,respectively.The effects of ginseng and pilose antler alcohol extracts on growth performance,immune function and antioxidant indexes of the quails were analyzed.The results showed that the dietary supplementation of ginseng and antler extract significantly increased the average daily weight gain of the quails(P<0.05),and dietary supplementation of antler extract had a greater effect on the average daily weight gain of the quails than that of ginseng extract,and the average daily feed intake of the quails increased with the increase of dietary supplementation of antler and ginseng extract.The liver fresh weight of the quails in experimental group supplemented with antler alcohol extract was significantly increased(P<0.05),the spleen fresh weight of the quails supplemented with 2.5%and 5.0%ginseng and antler alcohol extract was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the bursa fresh weight of the quails supplemented with antler and ginseng alcohol extract was significantly increased(P<0.05).The activities of T-AOC,SOD and GSH-Px in serum of the quails were increased with the dietary increasing supplementation of antler and ginseng alcohol extract,and the MDA levels in serum of the quails were significantly decreased with the increasing supplementation of antler and ginseng alcohol extract(P<0.05).The results provide scientific references for the application of traditional Chinese medicines in animal health and efficient breeding.关键词
