Relationship between cumulative ecological risk and short video addiction among left—behind children:A moderated meditation model

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the prevailing circumstances and underlying factors of short video addiction a-mong left-behind children in the western Guangdong region.Additionally,it aims to develop a mediation model that examined the roles of loneliness and resilience in the interplay between cumulative ecological risk and short video ad-diction.Furthermore,we intend to propose effective strategies and recommendations aim at alleviating short video ad-diction among these vulnerable children.Methods:We employed both questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews,e.g.the Cumulative Ecological Risk Questionnaire,Short Video Addiction Scale,Loneliness Scale,and Resilience Scale on 416 left-behind children living in the rural areas in western Guangdong.Results:① Short video addiction was pos-itively correlated with cumulative ecological risk(r=0.20,P＜0.01),positively correlated with loneliness(r=0.18,P＜0.01),and negatively correlated with resilience(r=-0.24,P＜0.01).② The cumulative ecological risk index had a significant impact on short video addiction(β=0.07,P＜0.01);Loneliness also exerted a notable influence on short video addiction(β=0.18,P＜0.05).Consequently,it was established that loneliness served as a partial mediator be-tween the cumulative ecological risk index and short video addiction.Upon testing,the indirect effect was found to be 30％.③Resilience significantly moderated the relationship between loneliness and short video addiction(β=0.35,P＜0.001).Conclusion:In the context of left-behind children in western Guangdong,short video addiction is influ-enced by a multitude of factors.Loneliness serves as a mediating factor between cumulative ecological risk and short video addiction,while resilience exhibits a modulating effect on this process.Interventions targeting various aspects such as family,school,society,and individuals can enhance the levels of resilience among left-behind children.关键词
