Does the Development of the Digital Economy Promote Corporate Green Innovation?Mechanisms Based on Corporate Governance Level and Business Environment

Abstract
Enterprise green innovation is an important driving force to cultivate green productivity and accelerate comprehensive green transformation of the economy and society.At present,the digital economy has entered a new stage of standardized development,deepened application,and inclusive sharing,and it is of interest to investigate how the development of the digital economy empowers corporate green innovation.Based on panel data of A-share listed companies from 2012 to 2023,the article empirically examines how the development of the digital economy influences corporate green innovation.The study finds that the development of digital economy can significantly enhance the level of corporate green innovation;and compared with progressive innovation,the development of digital economy is more helpful to promote enterprises to carry out breakthrough green innovation.Heterogeneity analysis indicates that the stimulative effect of the digital economy on corporate green innovation is more pronounced in high-tech enterprises,manufacturing enterprises,and enterprises located in the central and western regions.Mechanism analysis indicates that digital economic development promotes corporate green innovation through enhancing corporate governance level and improving the business environment.This study enriches the analytical perspectives on digital economy and corporate green innovation.Moreover,it provides valuable decision-making references for stimulating corporate green innovation vitality and deeply integrating the digital economy with the real economy.关键词
