Abstract
The origin of the base manuscript of the Qing Kangxi edition of the Tibetan Kan-gyur has long been a subject of academic debate due to the lack of definitive historical records. The pref-aces of the Kangxi edition, including the"Imperial Preface to the Tibetan Buddhist Canon,""Memorial Requesting a Preface,"and"Further Memorial Requesting a Preface,"do not provide conclusive evi-dence regarding its source.Consequently, scholars have held divergent views, suggesting that the base manuscript might be the ancient Nartang manuscript or the Yongle edition of the Kangxi Kangyur, among others. However, none of these hypotheses have been supported by sufficient historical documentation or textual analysis. To further clarify the compilation history of this canonical text, this paper compares and analyzes the Kangxi edition of the Kangyur with other versions and concludes that the base manuscript of the Kangxi edition is indeed the Yongle edition of the Tibetan Kangyur. The two editions exhibit consis-tency in content, format, and physical form.关键词
