Abstract

In order to promote the application of shape memory material in firefighting clothing and improve the overall performance of firefighting clothing,the functional characteristics of shape memory materials and their current applications in firefighting clothing was reviewed.The value of using shape memory materials in design of firefighting clothing was discussed from aspects of thermal and moisture management,garment shape retention and optimization of appearance.The relevant research on the application of shape memory materials in firefighting clothing in the forms of single attachment,multiple attachment,and yarn were summarized,the impact of different design forms and parameters on the thermal protective performance of firefighting clothing was analyzed.It was found that the current shape memory material were mainly used to enhance the thermal protective performance of firefighting clothing,with applications focused on the fabric level.However,the impact on wearing comfort and operational flexibility had not been fully considered,and the potential value remains to be further explored.Future research should explore the impact mechanism of shape memory material on clothing and fabric,response difference in different thermal environment,wearing comfort and operational flexibility in actual firefighting operation,in order to achieve organic integration with firefighting clothing.
