Abstract

Objective To evaluate the safety of acacia alcohol.Methods Derek software,short time exposure test,LL-NA and DPRA were used to predict the toxicity of acacia alcohol.Results According to Derek software,farnesol was pre-dicted to be irritant/corrosive,and further according to the grading standard of LLNA,was predicted as a moderate sensitizer by Derek EC3 model with EC3 value 4.8%.The mean elimination rate of polypeptide in DPRA was 24.21%,resulting farne-sol to be judged as a moderate sensitizer.The result of LLNA displayed that farnesol can cause moderate skin irritation reac-tion,and the EC1.6 value was 2.92%,so farnesol is predicted as a moderate sensitizer.The result of short time exposure test showed no irritation or mild irritation of farnesol.Conclusion Farnesol exhibits potential skin irritation properties and a well-documented sensitization risk.
