Abstract

The multi-stage loading-creep history before the creep process was distinguished and described.Based on large-scale compression creep experiments of rockfill materials and literature data,the influence mechanism of the loading history on the creep process was analyzed.The prior loading rate immediately preceding the creep has a sig-nificant impact on the initial relaxation creep stage of the creep and little effect on the later equilibrium creep stage.When there is a large incremental loading process between the current creep process and the historical creep process,the historical creep process and earlier loading rates have no effect on the current creep.A model was proposed sug-gesting that equilibrium creep in the middle and later stages of creep develops along the inherent straight creep base-line in the logarithmic creep rate-logarithmic time coordinate system.The mechanism of low prior loading rate on the reduction of creep rate in the relaxation creep stage was explained.The calculation methods for relaxation creep rates and relaxation times were clarified.A general form of creep-time mathematical relationship,including both seg-mented and continuous types,considering loading history and applicable to different creep processes,was suggested.The experimental data proved that the proposed creep-time mathematical relationship can be well applied to the description of creep processes with different prior loading histories.
